A message from Dr Dennis Azuma

I want to welcome you to Horizon Dental. I have had the pleasure of living and providing comprehensive dental care in the Markham Unionville area for over 30 years. I have been committed to providing our patients with compassionate care and service , building long term relationships along the way. I am thankful and grateful for all of the patients I have had the privilege of caring for. Their loyalty and commitment to our office has been much appreciated.

I am thrilled to be working together with my son Daniel as well as our wonderful team. We share the same desire of doing all that we can to provide excellent , gentle dental care.

I continue to regularly attend in person and virtually, continuing education courses and webinars from the top dental clinicians and advanced dental training facilities in Canada, United States and abroad to keep up to date on the latest advancements in dentistry.

I have a passion for volunteering the skills I have as a dentist to help people in extreme need. This has meant travelling to some of the most remote places in the world as part of a medical dental team, to provide care to people who would not normally have access or the means to see a doctor or dentist. I have treated patients in villages in the Amazon rainforest regions of Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Colombia on several occasions as well as the African rainforest.

I have trekked to villages south east of Mount Everest in Nepal , in the high Andes mountains of Peru as well as volunteered in other countries in Asia, Central , South America and Africa. My wife and our three sons have come with me to be part of the team on several of these trips over the years. It has been a joy to share these experiences together.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy being with my wonderful wife, our three sons, two daughter in laws, future daughter in law, our precious grandson, and other family members and friends.

Dr. Daniel Azuma completed his BMSc at the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Specialization in Medical Sciences and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Sydney where he was awarded the Martin Halas Prize for proficiency and professionalism in all areas of clinical dentistry. He maintains his commitment to excellence through additional endodontic training at the University of Southern California and regular continuing education from internationally recognized leaders in dentistry.

His calm and relaxed demeanour, alongside his welcoming and dedicated team, creates a comfortable environment for patients of all ages and backgrounds.

Dr. Daniel is a member of the Academy of General Dentists, Ontario Dental Association, and Royal College of Dental Surgeons.

Out of the office, he enjoys joining his father on service trips providing dental care to remote communities and spending time with his wife and their puppy at the dog park.
